2026 E-Scow National Championship Results and Recap

Lake Geneva, known as the MECCA for scow sailing, hosted this year’s annual E-Scow National Championship. 77 boats from 10 states and 26 clubs competed, stretching from the coasts of New Jersey and South Carolina to the Rockies of Colorado – a true national field. The Midwest dominated the entry list as expected, but nearly a quarter of the fleet traveled from outside the region.

Nicholas Clemence and team (Pewaukee YC) set the tone on Friday by taking the gun in Race 1, with Thomas Burton (Minnetonka YC) and Rob Terry (Crystal Lake YC) close behind. Tim Krech (Minnetonka YC) came back in Race 2 with a wire-to-wire win. At the close of Day 1, Burton and Krech sat tied atop the leaderboard with 6 points each, with Vincent Porter (Lake Geneva YC) in third at 10.

Sam Rogers (Minnetonka YC) had his first win in Race 3, but Thomas Burton made a statement winning Race 4. Clemence came alive again in Race 5 for his second win of the regatta. The long day on the water reshuffled the standings — Burton remained in the lead, with Porter and Cox chasing, while Rogers’ rough Race 4 cost him in the overall standings. 

With the breeze cooperating for one final race on Sunday, Allan Terhune (Lake Geneva YC) delivered a strong closer, winning Race 6.

With throw outs, Thomas Burton claimed the 2026 E-Scow National Championship with a net score of 23, dropping his Race 5. Eddie Cox finished second, and Vincent Porter rounded out the podium.
