WOMEN’S TR Rankings Update 1

  • Stanford University

    • Ken LeglerMichelle Lahrkamp, enough said.
    • Michael McBrienUndefeated on WKD 1! There is no doubt now that they can be one of the best teams this year. Stanford has one of the deepest squads on the women's side this spring

  • Yale University

    • Chris KlevanThey were the best team last year and, according to coach Leonard, had hardly sailed as a unit due to some winter time injuries. Their core are all coming back as Sophomores but do not expect any kind of slump. This, when all is said and done, could go down as the best women's team of all time.
    • Ken LeglerLost two races at shifty Harvard but its early for the defending champs.
    • Michael McBrienDefending champions - look for them to be at the top of almost every TR this spring (and I bet they won't even have to sail their best possible squad to do so). Every driver they could sail is quick and could win their division at Nationals.

  • Boston College

    • Chris KlevanExperience, fast and hungry. A surely lethal combination.
    • Ken LeglerIn NEISA women's sailing, Harvard and Yale are not the only super talented teams. BC takes the first win in March.
    • Michael McBrienCame away with the win on a shortened weekend - looking to build off of last year's solid spring

  • Harvard University

    • Chris KlevanThey will push Yale and Dartmouth for the NEISA crown.
    • Ken LeglerVery close to the top, the Harvard women have a shot at everything.
    • Michael McBrienThey will be strong this spring no doubt. Look for them to make a strong showing at SMC this coming weekend.

  • Dartmouth College

    • Chris KlevanHawkins was the front runner for women's CSOY before a late usurping by the Frosh Cowels. I see a revenge tour coming.
    • Ken LeglerHaven't raced yet but Dartmouth has amassed a good deal of talented women sailors of late.
    • Michael McBrienLook for them to be a contender this spring with Hawkins leading the charge.

  • Brown University

    • Chris KlevanAlways solid. They were in contention to win the championship at home last year before a untimely losing streak. I reckon they are stronger for it.
    • Ken LeglerVeteran team racers combined with huge depth but their speed isn't quite number one.
    • Michael McBrienThis team has potential with some very strong seniors returning from last year's team.

    • Michael McBrienThe Engineers have some quick sailors with the potential to get MIT to the west coast in April.

  • Tulane University

    • Chris KlevanThis team will improve.
    • Ken LeglerAs long as Ciara Rodriguez is still on the team, they will be at nationals
    • Michael McBrienSolid performance at the Phebe, with all of their starting skippers from last year's top 8 run.

  • Cornell University

    • Chris KlevanWinter is coming. This is the best team in the north and, when spring finally comes, they will come south well trained and gritty.
    • Ken LeglerHard to rank them this early. Their only event was short on weather, wind, and wins at the coed G'town regatta.
    • Michael McBrienSome very quick drivers and experienced crews leading this team - their women's squad will surely be getting lots of reps and experience competing on the Open side in the MAISA TRL as well.

  • US Coast Guard Academy

    • Ken LeglerThe Bears beat Charleston at Charleston. With coed Bears at Charleston this weekend, the ladies will likely gain experience at a NEISA regatta this weekend.
    • Michael McBrienDon't count this team out! 3rd at the Phebe and I'm sure they'll be pushing all of NEISA's top teams hard this spring.

    • Chris KlevanWill battle Cornell and Penn for the MAISA crown.
    • Ken LeglerThe Lady Hoyas need to up their game to get ahead of conference rivals Cornell, St. Mary's, and Penn, not to mention ODU..
    • Michael McBrienGeorgetown has tons of potential! Winning Conference Champs in the fall and a strong showing just one win off the lead at ODU. They have a strong team overall and are well-coached.

    • Chris KlevanCould be the best in MAISA
    • Ken LeglerTop women's team in MAISA? Maybe. Big test at St. Mary's this weekend.
    • Michael McBrienStrong showing at ODU - coming away with the win after a very windy and then a light RR. They have one of the stronger MAISA fleet race squads, and a strong team to spare against. It'll be good to see how they stack up at some bigger TRs later this spring.
