2023 US Youth Match Racing (Rose Cup) Championship Results

byTom Sitzmann

The U.S. Youth Match Racing Championship (“USYMRC”) for the Rose Cup is an invitational event open to sailors who have reached their 16th birthday but not their 21st birthday during the calendar year in which the event is held. The Championship features world-class coaching and race management and serves as an outstanding training ground for young sailors who are interested in match racing and focused on competing at the next level. Invitations are by resume only. Requests for invitations received by April 1st will receive preference. This year the event was hosted by Sheboygan Yacht Club in Wisconsin, with racing from June 23rd – 25th.
This year the team of Chapman Petersen, Thomas Sitzmann, Luke Woodworth and Samara Walshe won the event amongst a talented field of ten teams. Three of the four on this team are Stanford University students, and Samara Walshe is a student the The Hotchkiss School.
