The Orange Bowl International Youth Regatta brings world-class sailing talent to South Florida in a five-day event that has become the largest international youth regatta in the U.S. and South America for sailors ages 8-18. Featuring more than 700 sailors from 21 nations, past regatta participants have achieved notoriety in the sailing world, including U.S. Junior Women’s singlehanded champion Sophia Reineke, who competed in the 2013 event.
Pensacola, Florida will hold the inaugural Foiling Week from February 24th to March 2nd, a seven-day international event dedicated to foiling. We Are Foiling in partnership with Sail Pensacola aims to celebrate a new era of sailing that represents a groundbreaking advancement in marine technology. This new global approach to navigation not only enhances speed and performance, but also reduces energy consumption.
Foiling Week Pensacola boasts an electrifying lineup of activities, featuring classes such as WASZP, Moth, A-Class Catamaran, and many others. Boat races will take place in Pensacola Bay while boards will foil off the shores of the Gulf of Mexico. In terms of conditions, the wind and flat water of Pensacola Bay make it the ideal destination for foiling. Additionally, a Foiling Trade Show will be hosted at Community Maritime Park. It is the perfect place to view the latest in high-tech nautical products and apparel. Attendees and consumers will also have the opportunity to attend a dynamic symposium that explores foiling applications and enjoy live music entertainment afterwards.
Pensacola Yacht Club will handle the on-water organization, as well as the Race Committee and the competitors’ facilities. Even in the planning phases, this week proves to be a must-see event. Regsitration is OPEN for US SAILING / PORTLAND YACTH CLUB SKIFF CLINIC
This event is for novice/introductory and skilled 29er sailors. Coaching and instruction will be provided for all skill levels.
For “Learn to Skiff” Participants: Equipment is provided. Our “LTS” clinics are designed for sailors with little to no experience in the 29er to learn the ins & outs of the skiff. Training on-shore and on-water will include focused topics of movement, boat handling, apparent wind angles, & 29er rigging / tuning for all conditions.
Clinics are meant to be fun, focused, and develop skills. Sailors can expect to arrive and be guided through proper rigging techniques and settings. On-shore discussion will encompass important steps and movement of skipper and crew, successful boat handling, and the nuances of apparent wind sailing.
The 29er is probably unlike any boat you’ve ever sailed. It’s tippy and responds to small changes in body weight and sail trim.
If you have trapeze experience, great! If not, our program’s teaching model is to pair novice sailors with experienced PROs in the boat. This way new sailors to the 29er learn the ins and outs of the boat through guided instruction.
For “29er Racers”: Sailors will learn advanced 29er race techniques like downspeed/high speed boathandling, moding and rig-tuning techniques.

It will be a fun-filled weekend with three days of racing, nightly activities, fantastic food, great camping, and true southern hospitality. Registration
Registration is open to all ages. The fleet comprises of three divisions:
Charter Boats
A limited number of Charter Boats are available from O’pen Skiff USA on a first come/first serve basis. Please contact Nevin Sayre at nsayre@aol.com as soon as possible if you think you may need a charter boat, and we’ll get you on the preliminary list. All boats come complete and ready to sail and have fun, with the One Design 4.5m sail. Charter reservations will have final confirmation only when charter fee is paid and the sailor is registered for the event. Here are the reservation options:
The charter boat deadline for North Americans is likely March 30, 2024, but we may run out
well before then. Charter boats are available for sale at substantial discount following the event by advance reservation. Additional fleet discounts are available. Contact nsayre@aol.com.
Shirts
All skippers that register before April 1st will receive a free regatta t-shirt. Additional shirts may be purchased (pre-order only) at the online storefront. Last day to order shirts is March 31, 2024. Online Storefront
Meals
All meals are included for each regatta registrant. This includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner starting Thursday evening, April 18th through the Award’s Party Sunday afternoon. Additional meals for family and friends may be pre-ordered at the online storefront up until 12pm on Monday, April 15th. Full meal packages are available.
Camping/Accommodations
We encourage all to spend the weekend camping. This highlight to the weekend will be a fun family experience and is in perfect synchronicity of the famous O’pen Skiff vibe. It will also make it easy to be a part of all the fun and social activities throughout the weekend. ASC has plenty of space to set up a tent; no reservation needed. Great locations include the East Point Beach area, the grassy spots in front of the cabins along the water front, the grassy areas near the east point pavilion, and the grassy lot above the clubhouse parking lot. For those of you with campers, we will have limited availability; $25/night with hookups. Reservations will open on January 1, 2024. Email Slegg9876@bellsouth.net if you would like a camper spot. You can also check Wildwood Campground and Mistletoe State Park for site availability. In addition, the following hotels are offering discounted rates for attendees:

Gear Requirement
Appropriate sailing gear for the water temperature and air temperature will be required for all sailors. Depending on the conditions, wetsuits may be required. Protective helmets and Coast Guard approved life jackets are required. Forward WIP is one option that makes sailing specific helmets at https://www.murrays.com/category/g-sh/. Travel
The closest airport is the Augusta Regional Airport (AGS). Another option is Atlanta International (ATL), which is a two hour drive.
Pets
Please refrain from bringing pets (except certified service dogs). Pets are not permitted on the beach or around club buildings. Your cooperation is appreciated.

Clean Regatta
The ASC juniors have formed a green team with the goal of making this a clean regatta. All registrants and guests are asked to bring a reusable water bottle.

RS Tera Pro, Sport Gold and Silver Fleets will compete for the RS Tera North American Championship 2024 at Alamitos Bay Yacht Club, one of the finest venues on the West Coast.
ABYC is known for its breeze, excellent regatta management and warm hospitality. This is a great opportunity for RS Tera sailors to experience racing in Alamitos Bay, Long Beach, the same area as the 2028 Summer Olympics!
