WallPaper* magazine selects the Laser for its special Handmade issue July 8, 2010 — For its most ambitious issue to date, Wallpaper* has brought together and briefed some of the world’s leading designers, craftsmen and manufacturers to produce unique furniture, fittings, foodstuffs, fashion and the Laser. One of the projects Wallpaper* wanted in this issue was a boat, but it had to be a design classic. They called on ocean-loving designer and regular Wallpaper* contributor Marian Bantjes to produce plans for a graphically enhanced Laser®, and she delivered a stunning design that references the cubist patterns of the First and Second World War ‘dazzle’ naval camouflage. A limited edition of 12 of these works of art are available to order from LaserPerformance Europe. “We’re thrilled that the Laser was selected for this project. It’s a testament to the Laser’s timeless design and its position as one of the world’s most popular sailboats”, commented Chip Wilkerson, VP Marketing at LaserPerformance. Marian Bantjes is the founder of Vancouver graphic design company Digitopolis, Marian Bantjes left the firm in 2003 to concentrate on working with custom type, playful typography-based illustrations and ornamentation. More of her work can be found at www.bantjes.com. Wallpaper* is the world’s most important design and style magazine. It has attracted a sophisticated global audience by constantly pushing into new creative territories and ensuring its coverage of everything from architecture to motoring, fashion to travel, and interiors to jewelry remains unrivalled. Wallpaper* has readers in 93 countries and has enjoyed unparalleled success in reaching the design elite right across the globe. ### LaserPerformance is the steward of some of sailing’s most recognized brands including Laser, Sunfish, SB3 and the Bug. Sunfish 2010 World Championship Results
Tuscany, Italy – Jonathan Martinetti of Ecuador has won the 2010 Sunfish World Championship. On the last day of the regatta there was a single race planned. Martinetti entered the day with a narrow 5 point lead of David Mendelblatt. Mendelblatt went on to win the final race, while Martinetti was 6th – creating a tie on points. By virtue of his 3 first place finishes, Jonathan won the tie breaker.
Both Jonathan and David are to be congratulated for sailing an amazing regatta. In addition, the youth of our Sunfish Class have demonstrated that they will be a force to be reckon with for many years as Junior sailors took six of the top 10 positions overall!
Thank you to the Italian Sunfish Class for hosting the event. Get ready for Curacao in 2011!

LaserPerformance runs World Open Regatta on both sides of the pond, simultaneously!
LaserPerformance North America and LaserPerformance Europe will host the inaugural LaserPerformance World Open Regatta June 26th – 27th, 2010 with US racing held at Sail Newport in Newport, Rhode Island and European racing held at SailLaser Weymouth, England and Portland National Sailing Academy. When the scores are in an overall LaserPerformance World Open Champion will be selected using a scoring matrix that takes into account the size of the fleet and finishes.
The event will bring together the Laser, Laser Radial and Sunfish classes for a weekend of top level competitive racing. The Bug class will enjoy “fun races”, suitable for less experience sailors as well as budding youth sailors. LaserPerformance and Sail Newport have a number of Bugs available for charter, so even if you’re not a boat owner, there are plenty of opportunities to get afloat and get involved, no need to be a landlubber!
US Entry fee is a bargain at $70.00 including food and entertainment.
