Please inquire for details and availability. Please be in touch with your dates, and we look forward to welcoming you to SailLaser this winter and spring! Hotel packages are available at negotiated rates at local hotels within walking distance, based on double or group occupancy. For teams without a coach, SailLaser in-house training is available at an additional cost. Additional 420s are also available. |

Juan Maegli of College of Charleston wins the 2009-2010 ICSA / Laser Performance Men’s Singlehanded National Championship, and Anne Hager repeats as winner of the 2009-2010 ICSA / LaserPerformance Women’s Singlehanded National Championship.
Corpus Christi, Texas (November 8, 2009)- Although Corpus Christi did not quite live up to the reputation that gives it the distinction of being the windiest coastal city in North America, it did provide great racing for the ICSA / LaserPerformance Men’s and Women’s Singlehanded National Championships. Juan Maegli, a sophomore from College of Charleston, bested the fleet of 18 qualifiers with 10 top-three finishes and no finishes worse than 9th in the 18 races sailed in the Olympic class Laser winning the men’s championship. Second place finisher was Fred Strammer, Brown University, and third place was won by Thomas Barrows of Yale.
In the women’s Laser Radial fleet Anne Hager, a sophomore from Boston College, won her second straight ICSA / LaserPerformance Women’s Singlehanded National Championship with 10 top-three finishes in the 18 races. Hager edged out a Claire Dennis, Yale, by 6 points, while Allie Blecher, College of Charleston finished third.

LaserPerformance Launches the Vapor Optimist !
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
November 3, 2009
LaserPerformance Launches the Vapor Optimist
Portsmouth, RI – On November 16th LaserPerformance will launch a new Optimist branded the Vapor. The Optimist has long been a part of LaserPerformance’s (previously Vanguard) line up. However, with the Vapor, LaserPerformance will be bringing production back to the US. The Vapor will be produced alongside the Laser, Sunfish, and 420 in LaserPerformance’s Portsmouth RI production facility.
“We’re pleased to be able to make this move. We have a talented team here. Bringing our Optimist production back to the US provides us with a tremendous amount of synergies from a production and sourcing standpoint” said Devin Kelly, President LaserPerformance.
The Vapor will be available in two versions – the Vapor and Vapor XD. The Vapor features the same components currently available on LaserPerformance’s Optimist. The Vapor XD comes equipped with the very best components from Harken, Ronstan, TEB, and Optimax. Both versions share the same hull.
“Our product development team has done a great job with the Vapor. The hull takes advantage of the very latest thinking in marine manufacturing. Plus, having both the Vapor and Vapor XD allows Optimist kids to sail a Vapor their first time on the water all the way to the very highest levels of international competition,” commented Chip Wilkerson, Vice President of Marketing.
The Vapor XD will go on sale November 16th of this year and will only be available on-line from LaserPerformance. The Vapor should be available from LaserPerformance dealers in February 2010. The Vapor XD will make its regatta debut at Miami’s Orange Bowl.
LaserPerformance is the steward of some of sailing’s most recognized brands including Laser, Sunfish, Club 420, SB3 and the Bug. COLLEGE SLOOP NATIONALS Final Results
COLLEGE SLOOP NATIONALS
(New London, CT) – Ten teams met for the 2009-2010 Inter-Collegiate Sloop National Championship, hosted by Coast Guard in Colgate 26’s (crew of 4).
Three races were completed on Friday in difficult conditions in around 5-8 knots of wind. St. Mary’s College won the first two races day, but the average points they would receive from a breakdown in the third race would challenge scorekeepers for the rest of the event. Saturday morning brought light rain with southerly winds ranging from 10-14 knots, with the fleet completing four races before a brief lunch break.
SMC was now tied with Boston College when teams went back out to 15-18 knot winds for the eighth race. Winds decreased to under 10 knots for the final two races, with the Championship coming down to the last race between St. Mary’s and Boston College. BC got behind on the first beat while St. Mary’s had the points needed to win, but BC skipper Taylor Canfield fought hard enough to pass one boat on the final run to finish tied with St. Mary’s and won the tie breaker on virtue of their three 1st place finishes. Winning BC team was Taylor Canfield (’11), Christian Manchester (’10), Christopher Protasewich (’10), and Jonathan Lutz (’13).
Final Standings (top 5 of 10; 10 races)
1. Boston College, 26 points
2. St. Mary’s College, 26
3. Navy, 39
4. Brown University, 43
5. College of Charleston, 46
