2020 I-420 North American Championship
The regatta is open to boats of the I-420 Class. All competitors must be valid members of the US I420 Class. Sailors can join or renew their membership at: https://www.usi420.org/membership/membership-types-and-fees.
Boats shall comply with the Class Rules and have a valid measurement form. The sail number shall conform to the Class Rules.

U.S. Para Sailing Championship and Independence Cup
U.S. Para Sailing Championship formally know as the U.S. Disabled Sailing Championship is being sailed in tandem with the Judd Goldman Adaptive Sailing Foundation Independence Cup Regatta. July 25 – 28, 2019, Judd Goldman Sailing Center, Chicago, IL.

Independence Cup(first sailed in 1986), became US Sailing’s national championship for disabled sailors in 1989. Today the event is known as the U.S. Para Sailing Championship. Many competitors have gone on to represent the United States in the Paralympic Games including Nick Scandone, gold medalist at the 2008 Paralympics. Typically the event is sailed in three classes; the 2.4mR, Sonar and a doublehanded class that varies depending on the boat provided by the event host.
U.S. Women’s Match Racing Championship

This is a match race regatta for up to 10 all-female teams sailed on keelboats. The format includes a series of Qualifying Round Robin(s), Semi-Finals and a Finals Series.
Competitors must be members of US Sailing. International competitors are welcome to request an invitation to the qualifiers and/or finals. The Allegra Knapp Mertz Trophy is awarded to the winner and the Mrs. Charles Francis Adams Memorial Trophy is presented to the runner-up.

The U.S. Team Racing Championship is raced in three-boat/six-person teams. This event serves as a qualifier for World Sailing’s Team Racing Worlds when held.

Noted as US Sailings most coveted Adult Sailing Championships began as a men’s event in 1952 and transitioned to an open event in1993. The Mallory Trophy dates back to the Battle of the Nile in1798 from the estate of Lord Nelson. Teams must be made of sailors from the representing Regional Sailing Associations. RSAs within US Sailing Association submit their representative for selection. The 2019 event will be sailed in J/80s.

ENTRY PROCESS:
- Those eligible to Apply and PRE-REGISTER, must be the winning one design class United States, North American or World Champion helms-person during the qualifying period.
- Eligible class champions may apply for this event by submitting an online Pre-Registration and non-refundable application fee of $50.00 before the August 17, 2019 deadline.
- All Eligible Applications received will be reviewed by the Championship of Champions Committee. Please send a link with the official results from the winning Class event Championship and any other resume information to Nancy Mazzulli prior to the August 17, 2019 application deadline- if not done during the online application process.
- Applications selected to participate will be notified no later than August 31, 2019 and directed to the Registration portal to complete the final payment and entry documents.
- Up to nineteen (19) applicants will be invited to attend this event. The twentieth (20th) competitor will be an invited Mystery Guest.
- Eligible late entries may be accepted or invited at the discretion of the US Sailing Championship of Champions Committee. Entries not invited by August 31, 2019 will be
kept on a priority wait list and will be contacted in the order determined by U.S. Sailing if any of the initial entrants are unable to attend.

NOTICE OF RACE
1. RULES & ANNOUNCEMENTS
1.1 The regatta will be governed by The Racing Rules of Sailing 2017-2020.
1.2 US Sailing Prescriptions to RRS 63.2 and 63.4 will not apply.
1.3 This event is designated a Clean Regatta by the Sailors for the Sea Organization, http://www.sailorsforthesea.org/, a nonprofit organization that educates and empowers boaters to protect and restore our oceans and coastal waters. Single-use plastics including water bottles will not be allowed. HYC and the OA is committed to sustainability and limiting waste.
1.4 Spectator Boats may be available.
2. ELIGIBILITY & ENTRY
2.1 The regatta is open to One-Design classes under 25’. Portsmouth scoring will be available for a combined fleet of registrants that do not equal a fleet of 5 boats.
2.2 Entrants are encouraged to register online through Regatta Network at http://www.regattanetwork.com or at http://www.tylerpatnaude.com/ or with a valid CBYRA entry form at time of registration.
2.3 The Entry Fee is $35 and includes one (1) ticket to the Boats and Bow Ties Gala to be held at HYC on Sat night. Additional tickets are $35
2.4 Free launch, haul, and boat/trailer storage is provided with multiple hoists available.
3. SCHEDULE
3.1 The regatta will consist of multiple windward/leeward or trapezoid races for all fleets (Sonars will only compete on Saturday).

4. COURSES
4.1 Multiple windward/leeward or trapezoid races will be attempted each day.
5. RACING AREA
5.1 Off Hampton Flats approximately 1 nm SW of mouth of Hampton River (near mooring buoy).
6. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
6.1 Printed S.I.s will be available at Registration, and an original copy as well as any amendments will be posted on the Notice Board
6.2 Preliminary S.I.s will be posted electronically several days prior to the regatta.
6.3 Final fleets, class flags, and Order of Starts will be provided at the Skippers Meeting.
Preliminary, unofficial information may be posted at HYC and/or electronically prior to that.
7. SCORING & AWARDS
7.1 RRS Appendix A Low Point Scoring will be used (one throw-out after a minimum of 6 races)
7.2 Portsmouth handicapping system will be utilized for an Open fleet.
7.3 Awards will be presented in each fleet of at least three boats paid by July 1 as well as the overall winner of the open fleet.
8. BOATS AND BOW TIES GALA INFORMATION
8.1 Regatta entry includes one ticket for entry, additional tickets can be purchased online for $35 at http://www.tylerpatnaude.com/
8.2 Proceeds for the event benefit youth sailing in the Hampton Roads area through the Tyler Patnaude Foundation, a non-profit 501(C)3.
8.3 Attendees are encouraged to show your casual southern style with a bow tie, boat shoes, seersucker, sun dress, shorts or anything nautical. Enjoy great food, live music, and auction on shore.
